A Single Water Drop

Laying on this cold, hard rock
that divides the stream, down river
from the falls, I listen.
I try to follow the path
of a single water drop,
as it joins with countless others,
meandering,
etching,
forever changing
the Earth around it.
Such an insignificance
made significant
in aggregate.
